Navagio Beach: The Most Incredible Basejump Site

If you are a thrill seeker looking for an interesting spin to a mundane task, it’s suggested to take a trip to the Navagio Beach or Shipwreck Beach in Greece. The name Shipwreck is derived from the remains of a shipwrecked boat that can be found on the beach. The beach is located in the northwestern part of the island Zakynthos. The beach is surrounded by white limestone cliffs on one side and crystal clear blue water on the other and the only way to access the beach is either by boat (yawn) or by base jumping to the beach.

Base jumping is an extreme sport which involves getting an adrenaline kick from parachuting or wingsuit flying from a fixed structure or cliff. BASE is actually an acronym for the four categories of fixed object that one can jump from, Building, Antenna, Span, and Earth (cliff). The jump is off the edge of a 656ft/200m drop and the jumper has a maximum of five seconds to open their parachute for a safe landing on the beach below which a landing target is clearly visible from the top of the cliff and aids the jumper in their descent. Onlookers below are able to watch as the thrill seekers dive off the cliff and onto to the target below.
