Getting up in the morning can sometimes be a chore, and if you are not a morning person change replace sometimes with always. Have no fear, as there are foods that you can eat which will help to lift your mood and literally make your day feel better than usual.

Yogurt

Yogurt is a dairy product which has in a culture which contains populations of good bacteria. This type of bacteria can be found living in varied amounts around your body, but especially in your gut. In a study done by The University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), it was found that women were shown to be less distressed at pictures of frightened angry faces after taking yogurt twice daily. There is a connection between your gut and brain via the vagus nerve and the live bacteria settles both your stomach and your brain leading to less stressed reaction daily.

Walnuts

Walnuts have been included in numerous studies and are chockfull of feel-gooders; it contains alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), magnesium and serotonin. These three ingredients must be kept at a certain level to ensure that your good mood can last throughout the day, one it is low has even been linked to depression. A suggested serving size of 1 handful is all that is required to reap the benefits from this nut.

Bananas

Bananas have historically always been classified as a breakfast item to be eaten alone, with cereal or in a smoothie. Clearly history was on the right track as scientifically it has been found that bananas contain tryptophan a brain chemical that helps to regulate mood. Bananas are also a good source of vitamin B folate and low levels have been linked to depression.

Salmon

Salmon has in loads omega 3 fatty acids which can lead to an improved mood as well as fight depression. The healthy fats are also good for your hair which is an additional reason to be in a good mood. So as you can see you can’t go wrong by adding salmon as a regular into your diet.
