Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Review

Galaxy Note 8

The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 is the latest release in the galaxy line of models, making a huge comeback after a problematic recall with the previous model in the Note 7 (read: pocket explosions made for a major fire hazard). The Note 8 is a total re-launch from the last model, taking into account the best features of the galaxy line thus far, while still remaining very true to the tried galaxy model.

A general consensus among experts who have gotten their hands on this phone prior to its national launch is that the Galaxy Note 8 is the most feature-packed and impressive model in the galaxy series to date. However, it does still suffer from some of the same setbacks as the rest of the galaxy series. In an increasingly competitive market of smart phones that are more feature-laden than ever, the Galaxy Note 8 stands out as an easy-to-use device that is perfect for work and play.

The Pros

The Galaxy Note 8 features the same oversized screen, complete with stylus that has marked the Note series since its original launch. The Note 8 features a 6.3 inch OLED screen, making it one of the larger screens on the market but just as vibrant and user friendly as the more common smaller models.

The phone features a top-of-the-line processer, a long-lasting battery with the built-in ultra-power saving mode that is available across all Samsung models, and expandable storage options. Samsung returns to its waterproof design with this model, but found a way to also include the wireless charging that was such a hit with the launch of the galaxy s6. The phone is aesthetically pleasing, with a sleek, futuristic design thanks to its bezeled edges and impressive screen.

The Cons

While the stylus has come a long way from even two generations ago, it is still an added feature that can feel gimmicky at times. Essentially, while it is a great option, it is not a necessary one as the phone works fine without it.

After a troubled launch and the eventual recall of the Galaxy Note 7, it does seem like Samsung chose to play it safe with the Note 8. The phone features all of the best perks of the existing galaxy line without adding much of anything new. This makes for a competent and impressive phone, though perhaps not one with a lot of wow factors.
