Pole is a sport and all over the world there are numerous pole federations and associations which host annual competitions where men and women can perform and show people how the face of pole is changing. There are also numerous benefits which can be gained from picking up pole as well.

Strengthens core muscles

One thing that all pole enthusiasts have in common is a strong core, without it some of their moves wouldn’t have quite the same effect as you can imagine. Lots of stunts and the basic pole movements will engage your core and if its not in tip top shape it will tell on you, and probably hurt terribly the next day as well.

Another benefit to pole, is that is automatically tones your body up, as many of the movements engage different muscle groups in your body, sometimes simultaneously. Through doing pole continuously, you should start to see toning and definition occurring in places like your arms, back and legs.

If you have ever had the opportunity to watch any good pole routine, it safe to say that flexibility is very important within the sport. Sometimes during a routine, persons can seem like contortionists as they deftly move into uncomfortable looking positions to execute gravity defying tricks. Increased flexibility is always good as it limits injuries and is beneficial for injury prevention, recovery and overall joint and muscle heath.
